Many brides know that they want to wear a wedding veil. But it can be hard to decide exactly what length wedding veil is right for you. In this post, we’ll talk about Veil Lengths and how to decide which length of veil is the perfect pick for your wedding day.
Veil Length Chart
When it comes to picking a wedding veil, the best place to start is to decide what length you’re looking for. Our Veil Length Chart provides a great visual when it comes to selecting the perfect veil.
Traditionally, fingertip length veils and cathedral length veils are the most popular choices.
Veils With A Blusher
We can – and will – devote an entire blog post to the concept of a “blusher.” With that said, it’s also important to decide on whether you want to wear a blusher wedding veil.
A blusher veil is a veil that has two layers – a longer layer that trails down the back of your wedding dress and a shorter layer (usually between 25” – 35” in length). This shorter layer (called a blusher) is meant to drape over your face, creating a very traditional moment when walking down the aisle.
Because of how they are constructed, not all veils can come with blushers.
Remember: If you are wanting to wear a veil with a blusher, be sure to select a simple sheer tulle veil with a blusher so that your face is still visible while walking down the aisle.
Fingertip Length Wedding Veils
25 – 45” long
Bridal Aesthetic
Chic, Traditional, Effortless Beauty
Fingertip Length Veils designed to fall past your shoulders and end between your elbows and fingertips when your arms are hanging straight by your sides.
Fingertip length wedding veils are a popular choice for a reason. Elegant and effortless, they add a touch of “bridal” to any wedding dress without going too over the top. Their shorter length makes them lightweight and incredibly easy to wear with virtually any type of wedding dress.
Our Recommendation
Waltz Length Veil
60” – 80” Long
Bridal Aesthetic
Romantic, Timeless Elegance
A Waltz Length wedding veil is a veil that measures between 60” and 80” in length. This length is perfect if you’re planning to wear a veil with dramatic details like scalloped edges or embellished accents. Because it doesn’t touch the floor, it will fall beautifully and maintain a dramatic shape.
Our Recommendation
Chapel Length Veil
100” Long
Bridal Aesthetic
Bohemian, Destination-Ready
A standard Chapel Length Veil measures approximately 100” long and is meant to just brush the ground. A Chapel Length Veil provides you with the best of both worlds – you get a touch of bridal elegance without the weight or hassle of a long veil trailing behind you.
If you’re a bohemian bride who doesn’t plan on wearing a wedding dress with a train, this option is picture perfect. It’s also great for any bride throwing a formal yet slightly non-traditional wedding – like an upscale destination wedding or a brunch wedding.
Our Recommendation
Cathedral Length Veils
120” Long
Bridal Aesthetic
Dramatic, Timeless, Statement-Making
When many brides dream of their wedding day, they envision themselves walking down the aisle in a Cathedral Length Veil. This type of veil measures approximately 120” long and is meant to trail behind you gracefully when walking down the aisle. Perfect for traditional brides with a timeless aesthetic, Cathedral Length Veils will provide you with that exquisite bridal moment you’ve been dreaming of.
Our Recommendation
Extra Long Wedding Veils
140” – 160” long
Bridal Aesthetic
Bold, Breathtaking, Over The Top Elegance
If you want to really make a statement, an extra long wedding veil will definitely get you there. These veils typically measure 140” – 200” in length and can be made from any fabric. If you want a dramatic Princess Diana-esque moment when walking down the aisle, an ultra-long veil is a must.
A few things to remember...
Veils Aren’t Exactly One-Size-Fits-All
When choosing your veil length, remember that where a veil hits will depend on how tall you are and where you place the veil’s comb in your hair.
Consider A Custom Length
If you are incredibly particular about where you want your veil to fall, consider ordering a veil in a custom length. Many of our veils are available in multiple lengths and can be customized to any length you desire.
